Founder and CEO
Patrick D. Young is the proud owner of FUNOHCAKES. He was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was the age of 10 when he experienced his first funnel cake at a local amusement park. At that moment, he fell in LOVE with the pastry and decided to try his own mixture at his parents home. After many attempts of trying different recipes and A LOT of his mother's flour, he finally got it right and started frying the sweet pastry for his neighborhood friends. Ironically, at the age of 16, he got his first job working at the same theme park 6 years previously he tried the pastry. One year later, he became the Food and Beverage supervisor for both funnel cake locations in the park. He absolutely loved his job and even implemented his High School Senior Exit project as part of it. He attended North Carolina Central University where he earned two BA Degrees in Accounting and Business Management. Since the age of 10, he dreamed of starting his own funnel cake company...after years of research and testing different batters with friends and family, the dream became a reality!
FUNOHCAKES™ has participated in many fairs, festivals, and events in North Carolina and surounding areas. Among Many, Patrick's favorite event is the REFUSE TO LOSE & STAY IN SCHOOL annual event at The Salvation Army's Center of HOPE. This is an event he started in 2013 to give kids living at the local homeless shelter hope and motivation to stay in school.
